Communication is a superpower! A foundational competency of our best health leaders is the capacity of connecting with almost anyone! They are the leaders we link arms with and follow into the future! They are the leaders we love talking to, we turn to for support or advice, and who listen to what we are trying to say. In short, they make us feel seen and valued! What do we know about how these "super-communicators" and what makes our connection and conversations with them so special?
Over the holidays, we invite you to have a leisurely read of "Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection" by Charles Duhigg. Learn about how to recognize the three types of conversations at play - the practical (What is going on?), the emotional (How we feel?) and the social (Our identities or who we are?). Then join the Vernissage Health leadership community in early 2026 for a hosted discussion to explore this framework and discuss how you've navigated these conversations in life and work.
During this session, we will dedicate time for small group storytelling among early, mid, and later career health leaders, discussing how we have navigated these conversations as health leaders. As always, our discussions are guided by the Vernissage Health dialogue touchstones, ensuring a safe space for sharing leadership stories. Stories will allow us to explore the complex emotions behind the words we hear and speak, as well as the hidden beliefs and assumptions that can divide us instead of uniting us in conversation.
